Gardener or Gardener and Housekeeper Couple, Kinlochard, Stirling, Scotland

Greycoat Lumley’s client is seeking a Gardener or Gardener/Housekeeper Couple for their Private Estate in Kinlochard, Stirling. The current gardener has been with the estate for the last 15 years. That gardener has managed a multi-year restoration and development.

The current gardener will retire at the end of January 2026 and there will be a handover period. The gardens now need to be maintained to a high standard due to the investment in time spent developing the gardens to their true potential.

The gardens are 10 acres around the main house and additional extensive woodland.

Gardening Experience Required:

  • Experienced Head Gardener with strong references

  • Self-reliant and able to work independently while communicating with the Principals who live overseas with limited time in the UK

  • Able to manage additional resources as required, including a loyal part time under-gardener who has been there for several years

  • Experience with formal gardens, borders etc

  • Experience with more natural areas, such as wild meadow and moss garden

  • Kitchen garden experience including range of fruit, veg and glass house

  • Experience with wooded areas and managing a schedule of tree maintenance etc

  • Experience with shrubbery and large rock garden

Required Additional Skills:

  • Manage the maintenance of the main house including gutters, roof etc and ensuring there is appropriate heating etc. while the house is not lived in

  • When the house is being used by the family and or guests, ensure that garden furniture, sports equipment etc. is ready for use.

  • Ensure the boat house and sauna is properly maintained

  • Look after cars kept in the garage (ensure battery is trickle charged, take for service, undertake low mileage driving to make sure the car is ticking over)

Working on a project of a large oak woodland adjacent to the garden which needs significant work

The Principals are realistic in the amount of work the gardener will achieve so projects can be discussed.

A single gardener will be considered for the role.

Part-Time Housekeeper:

  • Housekeeping of the main 8-bedroom, 7-bathroom house

  • Laundry

  • Ironing

  • Errands

If the housekeeper wishes to have full time hours the Principals do have a second property and that may be incorporated into the role. The role will have more hours when the Principals are in residence.

Accommodation: 2-bedroom cottage – living onsite is essential

Days: 5 per week

Start: Mid-January 2026

Gardener £40,000 + GPA – 40 hours per week

Housekeeper hour rate £15+ depending on experience – standard weekly hours will be set and increased for busier times. If full time role is agreed, salary based on experience.
