Therefore, candidates must love children and animals. The Principals will be in full-time residence other than trips for work or personal travel. The current Couple have been employed for the last 12 years and are retiring, providing an excellent opportunity for a new team to take over the care and management of this special property.
The ideal candidates will have experience within private households/estates and the combined skills of housekeeping, gardening, handyman work, and perhaps some cooking experience too.
Housekeeper/Mothers Help duties:This position is varied and will include but will not be limited to the following duties:

- Occasional school runs, babysitting, cooking for the children
- Taking children to activities and providing supervision where needed

- Occasional proxy parenting when both parents are away
- If the housekeeper enjoys cooking, this would be a bonus, as the principals would occasionally like help when they have guests staying – generally helping to prepare, laying of dining room table and serving meals.
As the housekeeping duties can have the odd quieter period, having an interest in gardening would be beneficial.
Handyman/Gardener duties:This position is flexible and should have a practical background with good hands-on maintenance skills and be capable of property maintenance and hard landscaping. Responsibilities include:
- Maintenance of the buildings, gardens, walled garden, woodlands, and grounds
- Maintain the garden and grounds to a high standard including grass cutting, edging, path clearing, hedge cutting, tree pruning, weeding, tree management, driveway maintenance, and seasonal duties e.g. leaf clearing
- General maintenance and basic DIY across the property and outbuildings

- Other building maintenance activities e.g. clearing gutters, simple plumbing, DIY, property maintenance
- Managing tradespeople and overseeing repairs or schedules
- Maintain a stock of logs and monitor heating oil
- Occasional driving duties for the principals to and from airport, station pickups, restaurants etc.
Previous qualifications of a trade and gardening knowledge and experience are a bonus, along with a chainsaw license and tractor experience. Supporting security and the smooth day-to-day operation of the property is essential. As the family have two dogs and a flock of chickens, a fondness for animals is essential as the couple will assist with their daily care, exercise through the grounds, and pet sitting when the principals are travelling.
