Boarding House Manager Job
I am working with a dynamic team at a College in Oxford to seek a Boarding House Manager for an ASAP start. They are a prestigious institution renowned for exceptional GCSE and A-level programs. With a commitment to academic excellence, this college prepares ambitious international students for admission to top universities. This school welcomes applications from both males and females for this post.
The Role:
- Provide excellent care for boarders at the College whilst leading and managing an individual boarding house in accordance with the current minimum Ofsted Framework (SCIFF) and the National Minimum Standards for Boarding Colleges (5 Sept 2022).
- Play a key role in the drive to raise the quality of boarding to an outstanding level.
- Act as the link between students, parents and the academic aide of college.
- Lead the way in creating and maintaining a home from home environment.
- Responsibility for the all-round welfare and success of the young people in your boarding house.
- Work closely with your in-house team to enable the students in your boarding house to thrive and fulfil their potential in all areas of their life.
- Proactively provide and maintain a safe and homely environment for boarders in their house and to safeguard their welfare, playing an active part in weekend activities.
- Lead, manage and support a mixed team of Boarding Staff to ensure excellence in the delivery of boarding provision as measured by the experience and wellbeing of all boarding students.
- Foster a sense of House identify and spirit by encouraging students to participate actively in House activities and by supporting such events as a figurehead for the House.
- Communicate with the maintenance team and contractors to ensure the House is safe.
- Supervise the housekeeping team to ensure the House is clean and tidy.
- Chair and schedule Student House meetings, including the promotion of Student Voice and Student Leadership within your House and in conjunction with the HoB.
- Ensure house rules are always followed and address any infringements that may occur quickly and firmly.
You will have:
- Degree level education or higher
- Proven track record with teaching/boarding experience.
- Ideally a minimum five years' experience in a boarding environment and at least three years at senior parenting level.
- BSA Boarding qualification is desirable.
- Safeguarding experience and training up to Level 3 + in person DSL component.
- Comprehensive First Aid Training including first response.

Working Hours:

- 9 weeks holiday including public holidays. Note that 6 weeks must be taken between 1st July and mid-August, and approximately 2 weeks over the Christmas period.
