At Gretna Green, our grounds are more than gardens – they're the backdrop to proposals, wedding photographs, family celebrations and memories that last a lifetime.

We're looking for a Groundsperson who takes pride in creating exceptional outdoor spaces and understands the difference that attention to detail can make. Working alongside our Maintenance Manager and Head Gardener, you’ll help maintain and enhance the gardens and external areas across our award-winning destination. From perfectly presented lawns and vibrant planting displays to safe pathways and beautifully maintained landscapes, your work will help ensure Gretna Green looks its very best every day of the year.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain lawns, gardens, flower beds, shrubs and trees to an exceptional standard
  • Cut grass, trim hedges and carry out seasonal planting across all Gretna Green sites
  • Keep pathways, fencing and outdoor spaces safe, tidy and welcoming
  • Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, including ride-on mowers, strimmers and other grounds machinery
  • Remove litter and ensure equipment and vehicles are clean, safe and well maintained
  • Work safely with machinery and horticultural products, following all health and safety procedures
  • Support the wider maintenance team to maintain the highest presentation standards across the estate

What we’re looking for

  • A full UK driving licence
  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping
  • Experience using landscaping machinery and maintaining plant equipment
  • Strong time management and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in high-quality work
  • Positive, reliable and team-focused attitude
  • Horticultural qualification, PA1/PA6 spraying certificates or chainsaw certification (desirable, not essential)
