We are currently looking for full-time or part-time Restaurant / Bar team members to provide an efficient and friendly front of house service to customers in the restaurant and bar areas, promoting Gretna Green’s core values and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality service.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused Food & Beverage Assistants to join our restaurant and bar teams. Whether you’re starting out in hospitality or looking for a vibrant new role, you’ll be part of a team delivering memorable guest experiences every day.

The Role

As a Food & Beverage Assistant, you’ll help ensure every guest receives warm, friendly, and efficient service—whether dining in our restaurant, enjoying drinks at the bar, or celebrating a special occasion. You’ll play a hands-on role in creating a positive and welcoming environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Greet and serve guests in a warm, polite, and professional manner
  • Take orders confidently and have sound knowledge of the food and drink menus
  • Understand and communicate allergen and dietary information
  • Deliver food and drinks promptly, ensuring guest satisfaction through engaging service
  • Set up and clear tables and function areas efficiently
  • Process payments accurately using tills and card machines
  • Assist with guest requests and enquiries, escalating as needed to team leads or management
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in accordance with company policies
  • Support with event and function preparation when required

Required Skills include

  • Previous experience in restaurants, bars, or hospitality preferred (training provided)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and multitask during busy service
  • Great attention to detail and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and support others
  • Positive attitude with commercial awareness and upselling capability
  • A driving licence is beneficial but not required
