We have a great opportunity for a Farms Area Manager to join our busy Turkey Department working throughout our Northern Farms. You will be the first point of contact for our northern farms, offering support & technical knowledge to Company and Contract farms in, primarily the Midlands, Cheshire, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire areas. Attention to detail is a prerequisite to this position, you will understand the principles of brooding, ventilation, bird health, bio security & farm assurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure farms maintain the highest welfare standards, are presentable, and bio security is upheld.
  • Comply with customer and company requirements concerning the growing standards.
  • Work with farms to ensure all farm data is reported in a timely manner.
  • Monitor Farm KPI’s and make improvements as necessary.
  • Keep self updated with production plans: flock placement, depopulation, mortality, liveweights, feeding programmes, etc.
  • Attend the catch at least once per month.
  • Keep detailed records of flock performance, update office as required, send weekly reports on time.
  • Weekend working will be an essential part of this role.
  • Work within a well-established knowledgeable team with a positive outlook and can-do attitude.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Production Managers and wider team.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Support farm managers / contract growers with audits (internal and external), and collaborate to share best practice across sites.
  • Ensure safe working practices are maintained across farms adhering to Company SOPs and HSE best practice.
  • Inform HR on all staffing issues.

Requirements of the Role

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to talk to all levels within the business and give advice & support to seasoned farmers.
  • Strong decision-making, ability to seek guidance when required.
  • Must be self-motivated, capable of lone working, meeting deadlines and targets.
  • Positive can-do attitude and commitment to confidentiality.

Good To Know

Gressingham has its own dedicated training department, along with a Company Training Development Manager who can support you in identifying any training needs.

Job Type: Permanent

Hours per week: 39 hours per week, additional hours may be required at busy times during the year and these will be a condition of your salary.

Working Times: Monday to Thursday 8 hours per day, Friday 7 hours per day. Working times will be agreed in advance between you and your manager due to the nature of the role.

Pay Rate: £38,000 per annum with an increase to £39,000 following the successful completion of the 6-month probationary period.
