About the Role
To maintain smooth and cost-effective operations across multiple production lines within your department. To uphold the highest quality standards and meet customer expectations at all times. To maximize yield and minimize waste. To ensure your department complies with all current hygiene regulations. To ensure your department complies with all current health and safety requirements. This is a multi-line role, requiring the Line Leader to oversee several production lines. The position carries significant responsibility and operates at a level close to that of a departmental manager, supporting Production Manager in delivering operational excellence.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Motivate and supervise a team of operatives to achieve required production volumes at the specified quality and minimum cost.
- Monitor production efficiency using SIC boards and KPI information.
- Maintain hygiene and housekeeping standards throughout your department.
- Monitor labour costs for all operational areas against standards, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure consistent and accurate flow of production data for KPI reporting, in conjunction with the Production Manager.
- Continuously review production methods and systems to improve efficiency across multiple lines.
- Monitor waste levels and take appropriate measures to reduce them.
- Set up department machinery each day to maximise performance and productivity.
- Liaise with the Personnel Manager and Training Officer to develop and deliver effective training programmes, ensuring appropriate multi-skilling and identifying individuals with potential for advancement.
- In conjunction with the Technical Team and Production Controllers, ensure all production control procedures meet company, customer, and FSA standards.
- Carry out any other manual or management duties related to food production as reasonably required by the company.
- Supervise and promote Health & Safety awareness and compliance within your department.
