Position Summary
We are looking for a strong Cloud Engineer/DBA to work with our teams to advance our cloud-native strategy and build out our best-of-breed platform to support a rapidly growing business. As a Cloud Engineer with ThinkFolio experience, you will work with a high-functioning team of platform engineers to design and implement core cloud architecture solutions and drive operational efficiencies. You will act as a strategic partner to the Cloud Engineering team and actively engage with the wider ThinkFolio community to align our technology solutions with business needs. As a DBA with ThinkFolio experience, you will work to support a client-focused platform to optimise ThinkFolio’s Database performance and review the cost optimization strategy, and to provide incident root cause and remediations.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and scale client-facing, highly available cloud infrastructure (AWS) and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Design & implement solutions that help re-enforce the stability of the platform working with key stakeholders in the business.
- Drive the adoption of modern cloud-native practices and technologies.
- DBA: Manage, optimise and scale client-facing Database infrastructure.
- Provide ThinkFolio-centric, root cause analysis and remediations for incidents and issues.
- Help to own and modernize the observability stack, transitioning from reactive monitoring to proactive alerting.
- Establish and lead FinOps practices to optimize AWS cloud spend, improve cost visibility, and align infrastructure investments with business value.
- Track, analyse, and monitor cloud performance metrics to identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising performance.
- Required to support P1/P2 incident response and both tactical and strategical resolutions.
- Required to help draft RCAs with appropriate client success teams that can be shared with clients.
Role Requirements
- Experience of Infrastructure/Cloud experience supporting enterprise-wide, mission-critical platforms.
- Thinkfolio experience is critical and experience in highly regulated industries (financial services, fintech, or asset management) is highly desirable.
- Understanding of real-time trading systems or compliance-driven architectures is a significant plus.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent real-world experience.
- Technical Expertise in:
- Cloud Platforms: Deep, hands‑on expertise in AWS;
- Database: Deep, low‑level, hands‑on experience with SQL Server;
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong proficiency with Terraform and Ansible;
- Containers & Orchestration: Experience with Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, and serverless architectures.
- Passionate technologist with a commercial mindset.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical business stakeholders.
- High energy, analytical, adaptable, and open-minded.
