My banking client is seeking an Internal Audit Manager to cover Traded Risk, leading audits across traded risk activities within a banking environment. The role provides independent assurance over the design and operating effectiveness of governance, risk management and control frameworks for market risk, counterparty credit risk and related trading-book activities. Responsibilities include the following:
- Lead the planning, execution and reporting of complex audits across Traded Risk, including credit risk, market risk, counterparty credit risk, stress testing, limit frameworks, risk appetite, model usage and risk reporting.
- Assess the effectiveness of 1st and 2nd line controls over the identification, measurement, monitoring and escalation of traded risk exposures.
- Develop audit scopes that reflect material business activities, emerging risks, regulatory expectations and changes in trading products, booking models or risk methodologies.
- Lead audit fieldwork, challenge control owners, review evidence, identify root causes and agree proportionate, risk-based findings and actions.
- Produce clear audit reports for senior stakeholders, articulating issues, risk impact, control weaknesses and pragmatic remediation plans.
- Perform continuous monitoring of business, regulatory and market developments to inform the audit plan and support risk assessment.
- Provide subject matter input to wider audits involving Markets, Treasury, Finance, Risk, Operations, Technology and Model Risk Management.
- Coach and supervise audit team members, ensuring workpapers, testing, evidence and conclusions meet methodology and professional standards.
To be considered for this role, you will have significant experience in internal audit, risk management, 1st line trading controls, 2nd line traded risk oversight or a related assurance role within banking. Additionally, you will possess strong working knowledge of credit risk, market risk and counterparty credit risk, including trading-book products, risk measures, stress testing, risk limits and governance frameworks.
Finally, you will be comfortable with the relevant regulatory frameworks and expectations affecting traded risk, such as Basel market risk requirements, FRTB, prudential regulation, model governance and capital adequacy considerations.
Please note Internal Audit experience, within Banking, is a pre-requisite for your application to be considered.
