Job Description
Financial Crime Compliance Officer
We are seeking an experienced Financial Crime Compliance Officer to join a world leading investment company in London. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), sanctions, and fraud, along with extensive experience across both 1st and 2nd Line of Defence (LOD) roles.
As part of this dynamic team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the firm's compliance with relevant financial crime regulations, safeguarding the institution from risk, and contributing to the development of best practices in financial crime prevention.
The role will report directly into the MLRO.
What we need:
The Financial Crime Compliance Officer will be responsible for assisting the MLRO to implement, manage and co-ordinate an effective Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) framework.
• Assist in the drafting, coordinating, monitoring and maintenance of FCC policies and procedure
• Provide subject matter expertise on financial crime compliance issues on day-to-day activities • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure compliance risks are understood, managed, and mitigated across all business units
• Review and investigate of internal suspicious activity reports and fraud activities
• Provide Anti-Money Laundering oversight of products and processes through monitoring and periodic reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Overseeing first line of defence activities
• Prove training and guidance to the first line of defence on financial crime risks and control requirements
• Preparation of management information, board reports, and other senior management reporting
• Maintain a strong understanding of the Firm’s business model and strategy
• Assist in identifying and tracking new and updated requirements relating to financial crime, engaging collaboratively with the business in developing, implementing, and monitoring new procedures
• Identify training needs; delivering FCC training to employees
• Help identify opportunities for streamlining processes and implement efficiencies that will lead to enhanced client experience
• Foster a strong culture of compliance by promoting awareness and understanding of financial crime issues at all levels of the Firm.
What we would like:
• Experience of working in a second line of defence financial crime function (4 -5 years), preferably within Private Banking or Asset Management
• Strong knowledge of financial crime legislation and regulation (ideally ICA Diploma or ACAMS qualified)
• Proven experience in an assurance, compliance monitoring, providing assurance over financial crime risk management
• Previous experience in undertaking customer screening, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting and complex fraud investigations
• Excellent analytical, research and critical thinking skills, with an ability to make informed judgements • Logical thinker with an attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• A collaborative team player, approachable, self-efficient and influences a positive work environment
• Capable of prioritizing and multi-tasking in a dynamic, fast paced environment
• High degree of personal and professional integrity
