Job Description

Gresham House Ventures is a Private Equity and Growth Capital investor with c.£0.86bn of AUM across Venture Capital Trust and institutional LLP funds, supported by a strong fundraising track record and c.£300m of current fund liquidity awaiting investment.

We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated Investment Partner to help lead deployment, investment decision-making, portfolio value creation and the continued strategic growth of the Gresham House Ventures platform.

This is a senior role combining team leadership, principal investment decision-making across a high volume of opportunities, active portfolio involvement and close partnership with entrepreneurial management teams.

The role sits within the Private Equity Partners Group and will contribute actively to team leadership, investment strategy and platform development.

For the right candidate, this offers the opportunity to shape a growing private equity platform with significant capital to deploy, senior leadership influence, and exposure to ambitious UK growth businesses.

Key responsibilities / accountabilities

  • Operate as part of the senior leadership team responsible for delivering the agreed strategic and financial goals of the GHV division.
  • Co-lead the investment team through clear communication, disciplined deal flow management and delivery against deployment targets into high-quality assets.
  • Oversee investment team activity by co-leading weekly investment processes, chairing deal discussions and maintaining the cadence and rhythm of team delivery.
  • Lead and develop junior investment team members to deliver clearly defined GHV strategic objectives and KPIs.
  • Identify opportunities to utilise AI and advanced analytics to enable the transformation of investment operations.
  • Origination of new investment ideas and ongoing management of existing investments.
  • Conduct research / due diligence on investment ideas and prepare investment papers / proposals accordingly.
  • Participate in investment decisions, present at and attend investment committee meetings for specific funds as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Independent Fund Boards, venture and growth companies, advisers and other industry participants.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to compliance procedures associated with the relevant investment process and methodology.
  • Support regular reporting and compliance activities associated with specific funds and products.
  • Lead investment monitoring and valuation analysis across relevant portfolio assets.
  • Collaboratively develop new institutional fund investment strategies, including acting as Lead Manager where appropriate.

Skills & experience

  • 10+ years relevant experience in industry such as private equity, growth & venture capital, corporate finance/M&A/advisory, strategy consulting, transaction services, restructuring or management consulting.
  • Ability to develop and implement operational processes, including AI transformation to drive team effectiveness.
  • Demonstrable passion and aptitude for investment – notably in SME’s and wanting to play a key role in assisting owners and management in the growth and development of their businesses.
  • Deal origination capability and experience.
  • Identifiable and successful investment track record.
  • Strong financial skills including financial modelling and analysis capability
  • Strong people and communication skills, clear ability to build and maintain relationships, and to influence and work with board level contacts.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and exercise professional judgement in reviewing potential investment opportunities.
