The Company

Gren is an infrastructure-led energy company building the next generation of local utilities across the Baltics and the UK. At Gren, we have a blueprint that delivers more affordable, more reliable and cleaner energy for our customers, as we:

  • Own the generation infrastructure
  • Build and operate the local infrastructure that distributes the energy
  • Provide customers with cleaner, more reliable, more affordable energy

This integrated approach creates long-term, future-proof energy systems that cities can depend on. It replaces volatility with stability. And we deliver the infrastructure needed to tackle the climate crisis and the cost-of-living crisis - together. We are backed by Partners Group, and we are investing in the energy systems that will be the utilities that people can rely on for generations.

The Opportunity

As Head of Procurement and Supply Chain, you will be responsible for designing, transforming and leading procurement and supply chain across Gren UK. This includes shaping, building and embedding a high-performing function that supports infrastructure development, capital project delivery and long-term operational performance across the asset lifecycle. The business has a clear value creation plan, focused on improving profitability, cash generation, operational resilience and developing a scalable platform. Procurement and supply chain are central to achieving these objectives.

The role will play a critical part in supporting Gren UK's capital investment strategy, ensuring procurement and supply chain enables efficient capital deployment, cost certainty, scalable delivery and resilient long-term operations. Initially, your focus will be on transformation. You will assess the current state, identify opportunities for improvement and implement a structured plan that delivers measurable results. Following this, you will take ownership of the ongoing operation and continuous improvement of the function. This role requires a balance of strategic oversight and hands-on delivery. You will need to operate effectively at a senior level, while maintaining a hands-on approach and ensuring progress is delivered at pace with appropriate control and stakeholder alignment. You will work closely with Development, Engineering, Construction, Operations and Finance teams, acting as a trusted commercial partner across the full project and operational lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of the procurement and supply chain elements of the value creation plan
  • Assess the current setup across suppliers, inventory, logistics and governance, then build a clear, practical transformation roadmap
  • Drive improvements across cost, margin, cash flow, reliability and decision making
  • Lead strategic sourcing and supplier renegotiations, making sure savings are delivered and stick
  • Put in place the right processes, policies and reporting to support a scalable function
  • Take end-to-end ownership of procurement and supply chain operations across the UK portfolio
  • Ensure materials, equipment and services are delivered on time, cost-effectively and safely
  • Embed strong demand planning, inventory management and supplier performance processes
  • Keep a constant focus on improving efficiency, productivity and commercial outcomes
  • Develop and lead category strategies across all major spend areas
  • Build and manage long-term supplier frameworks and relationships
  • Lead complex negotiations and manage supplier performance and risk
  • Ensure contracts are consistent, robust and protect the business
  • Support early supplier engagement, cost benchmarking and value engineering initiatives to improve cost certainty and reduce CAPEX
  • Support the management of construction, interface and delivery risk through effective contracting and supplier strategies
  • Establish and maintain strong governance and approval frameworks
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety and ESG requirements
  • Proactively manage supply chain risk, including contingency planning
  • Support audits, lender requirements, and owner oversight
  • Work closely with Development, Operations, Engineering, Finance, Asset Management and senior leadership
  • Provide clear, data-led reporting on performance, savings and risk
  • Support M&A activity, including due diligence, integration and delivery of synergies
  • Build and lead a high-performing procurement and supply chain team
  • Set clear expectations and performance standards
  • Support the wider business in strengthening commercial and supplier management capability
