About the Role
- As a Class 1 Driver, you will:
- Carry out customer RDC deliveries to major supermarket distribution centres across the UK.
- Undertake nationwide deliveries, including nights out as required.
- Support the wider GDL Network with backloads arranged after deliveries.
- Ensure full load security, including correct use of tautliners, ratchet straps and manual handling techniques.
- Maintain regular communication with the transport team, providing timely progress updates.
- Work closely with the warehouse team to ensure all planned loads are picked, loaded and ready for dispatch.
- Attend regular training sessions to stay up to date with industry standards and best practices.
- Receive full training in all relevant operational processes (provided to the successful candidate).
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Hold a valid UK HGV Class 1 CE Licence, ready to take on the open road with confidence.
- Possess a current DCPC Card and UK Digital Tachograph Driver Card, ensuring you're always compliant and prepared.
- Experience using tautliners and securing loads for compliant road transport.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with warehouse and transport teams.
- Willingness to undertake nights out as part of nationwide delivery work.
