The position of Class 1 Tramper involves:
- Starting as a cover driver and once experienced, and availability arises a permanent vehicle will be issued.
- Collecting and delivering customers' products on a curtain sided trailer, this will include a great deal of load security using ratchet straps.
- Delivering loads throughout the UK both full and groupage loads.
- Using a handheld PDA to complete paperwork.
- Dealing with customers face to face and over the phone.
- Keeping in regular contact with the transport team for updates on progress and managing our customers' expectations. This will include nights away.
- Attending regular training sessions.
Essential skills required for Class 1 Tramper:
- Must hold a UK HGV Class 1 CE Licence.
- Hold a current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
- Be passionate about providing excellent customer service.
- Working to deadlines.
- Confident, polite and a team player.
- Good geographical knowledge.
- Due to the nature of the role applicants must be fit, flexible, hardworking and self-motivated.
