Transport Operations Manager Location: Cullompton

You will be responsible for overseeing the resourcing, organising and supervising the transport activities. Leading and motivating a team of circa 60, including drivers and warehouse team, leading the operation day to day, supporting the Depot Manager.

  • Oversee Transport Activities: Resource, organise, and supervise transport operations.
  • Direct Management: Lead a team of around 60 drivers and warehouse staff.
  • Operational Management: Handle day-to-day operations in a busy pallet distribution depot. Maintain driver induction records, CPC records, licence checks, and training. Supported by the Compliance Supervisor.
  • KPI Production: Produce and present KPIs for the business area, setting and measuring financial and operational KPIs.
  • Performance Improvement: Monitor and audit health and safety compliance, creating and implementing risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Fleet Management: Ensure fleet safety and reliability, collaborating with maintenance providers with support from the Compliance Supervisor.
  • Driver Training: Provide additional training on vehicle checks, company processes, and CPC updates.
  • Debriefs & Gate Checks: Conduct meaningful driver debriefs and gate checks to ensure accountability and legal adherence.

Required Experience:

  • Qualifications: Must hold international or national CPC qualification and have previous Transport Management experience.
  • Legal Compliance: Strong understanding of legal compliance, driver's hours, and WTDs.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
  • Financial Management: Experience in managing financial budgets and annual P&L responsibility.
  • Management Skills: Strong evidence of management skills and making key business decisions. Proficient in MS Office with strong analytical abilities for reviewing data and reports.
