Job Description: Join Gregory Distribution as an Apprentice HGV Technician and develop a long‑term career in commercial vehicle maintenance. You will gain hands‑on experience, industry‑recognised qualifications, and the practical skills needed to become a fully qualified Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train in all aspects of HGV maintenance, servicing, diagnostics, and repair as part of a skilled workshop team.
  • Complete a Level 2 Autocare Technician Apprenticeship and, upon successful completion, progress to a Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship, with excellent opportunities for ongoing development and career progression.
  • Work alongside experienced Technicians maintaining and repairing Gregory Distribution's fleet of commercial vehicles.
  • Develop knowledge across a wide range of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, chassis, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
  • Learn how to inspect, remove, replace, and test components using industry-standard tools, equipment, and diagnostic technology.
  • Follow safe working practices at all times and gain an understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Attend college-based training to support your technical development and achieve your apprenticeship qualifications (full details provided at interview).

Requirements:

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade D / Level 3 or above (or equivalent).
  • Strong numeracy, literacy, and basic IT skills.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to solve problems logically.
  • A willingness to learn, take instruction, and develop practical technical skills.
  • A genuine interest in vehicles and the commercial transport industry.
  • A positive team player with good listening skills.
  • The ability to manage your time, meet deadlines, and work independently when required.
