Job Description: At Gregory Distribution, we are currently seeking a Transport Planner in our Cullompton depot. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspects of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day-to-day running of this busy contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate vehicle routes, ensuring all vehicles and drivers are utilised efficiently while meeting customer and company service standards and controlling associated costs.
- Ensure all contracted work is fully covered and delivered in line with customer expectations.
- Maintain vehicle presentation standards, ensuring all vehicles are kept clean and tidy at all times.
- Ensure drivers maintain professional appearance, adhering to company uniform and presentation guidelines to uphold our brand image.
- Ensure full compliance with legal and Health & Safety requirements for all vehicles, drivers, and trailers.
- Oversee accurate and timely completion of company and customer documentation.
- Manage, support, and debrief drivers, addressing issues promptly and professionally.
- Communicate collection and delivery times to customers, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, along with any customer-specific rules or site requirements.
- Answer telephone calls courteously, resolving queries efficiently whether raised by customers, staff, or senior management.
- Foster strong working relationships with drivers and customers, ensuring any concerns are handled professionally and through appropriate channels.
- Conduct weekly workplace inspections and ensure any required actions are completed.
- Promote and enforce Health & Safety practices, ensuring you and the team follow all safe systems of work and company policies at all times.
- Plan and organise daily transport operations, including managing workload variations between peak and off-peak periods.
- Manage the planning for a wide variety of customers throughout the South West.
- Monitor key performance indicators, including on-time delivery, shift revenue, and vehicle utilisation, with a focus on achieving daily revenue targets.
- Ensure all vehicle movements are planned for maximum efficiency.
- Manage and approve working hours through the company's Time and Attendance system.
Requirements:
- Experience of planning in the logistics industry is advantageous.
- Knowledge of legal compliance including driver's hours and Working Time Directive regulations.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
