Job Description: Are you passionate about transport and looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic logistics company? We are currently seeking a Transport Supervisor to join our team at our Cullompton site. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspects of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day-to-day running of this busy contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and day-to-day supervision of transport and warehouse operations, ensuring resources are utilised effectively to deliver strong performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Support the Transport Manager in guiding, motivating, and developing the transport team to achieve operational and service excellence.
  • Oversee end-to-end transport activities, including dispatch, debriefs, and monitoring work in progress to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with planning, customer services, warehouse administration, and customers to ensure smooth, proactive, and well-coordinated operations.
  • Manage and debrief drivers, optimising routes and resource allocation while promoting best practice through coaching and development.
  • Coordinate operational activities including holiday and sickness cover planning, internal communications, and equipment maintenance scheduling.
  • Ensure effective control of driver departures in line with business strategy, maintaining compliance with company processes and standards.
  • Monitor and audit health & safety practices, ensuring full compliance with legal requirements and internal policies.
  • Manage equipment maintenance and servicing schedules to ensure reliability, safety, and operational readiness.
  • Investigate and resolve internal and external queries via email, phone, and face-to-face communication with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on support during breakdowns and operational challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to service.
  • Support team communications, including delivering briefings and preparing relevant documentation.
  • Produce, analyse, and report on KPIs and daily operational statistics, making recommendations to improve performance and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely recording of driver and operational data, ensuring a high level of attention to detail.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across teams, fostering collaboration, trust, and a positive working environment.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate strong transport expertise, including a solid working knowledge of the Working Time Directive and EU Drivers' Hours regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently at all levels, building effective relationships across the business.
  • Apply strong UK geographical knowledge to support efficient planning and smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Exhibit excellent organisational skills, confidently prioritising tasks and managing a fast-paced workload.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail, consistently meeting daily deadlines and operational requirements.
  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative team while also showing initiative and the ability to work independently.
  • Use MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) confidently to support reporting, communication, and administration.
