An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Systems Manager to join a leading food manufacturing business supplying major UK retailers. This is a key role within the Technical function, responsible for maintaining and developing the site's Quality Management System while ensuring compliance with customer, legal and food safety requirements.
Working closely with operational and technical teams, you'll drive continuous improvement, lead audit readiness and play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest quality standards across the site.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and continuously improve the site's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure compliance with customer standards, legal requirements and GFSI-recognised standards such as IFS or BRCGS.
- Lead preparation for third-party, customer and regulatory audits, ensuring successful outcomes.
- Conduct internal audits and GMP inspections, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Manage controlled documentation, non-conformance and complaints systems.
- Analyse quality data and trends to identify risks and implement effective corrective actions.
- Coordinate traceability exercises, product recalls and crisis management testing.
- Support HACCP reviews, validation activities and food safety initiatives.
- Develop and deliver technical training across the business.
- Build strong working relationships across Production, Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain to promote a positive food safety culture.
- Act as the key contact for customer technical queries and deputise for the Technical Manager when required.
We're looking for an experienced technical professional with a background in food manufacturing who enjoys improving systems, influencing stakeholders and driving high standards.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Technical Systems, Quality Systems or Technical Compliance role within food manufacturing.
- Excellent knowledge of BRCGS, IFS or equivalent GFSI standards.
- HACCP Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
- Internal Auditor qualification, with Lead Auditor experience desirable.
- Experience managing customer, third-party and regulatory audits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Experience using Quality Management Systems and document control systems.
- A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
