This is your opportunity to work as a Lead Technical Manager at an international manufacturing company. They are now looking for either an experienced and driven Lead Technical Manager, or someone who desires to progress within a growing company who has customer-facing experience. They want someone who can lead the technical and quality function at their main production facility.
The Lead Technical Manager is a key leadership role within the site leadership team—ideal for someone with strong retailer-facing experience, exceptional food safety knowledge, and a proactive, hands-on style.
Role
As the Lead Technical Manager, you will be responsible for all technical, quality, and food safety matters across the site, ensuring full compliance with customer standards, BRC, and regulatory requirements. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Leading the technical team including QA Supervisors, Technologists, and Compliance staff.
- Acting as the main technical point of contact for customers and auditors (BRC, retailers).
- Maintaining and improving the site’s Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensuring robust HACCP, traceability, allergen control, and hygiene systems.
- Leading customer and third-party audits, and ensuring timely resolution of non-conformances.
- Driving a strong culture of continuous improvement and food safety awareness across site teams.
- Working collaboratively with production, NPD, commercial, and supply chain departments.
The Candidate
The successful Lead Technical Manager will be a confident, technically strong individual who thrives in a fast-moving environment and can lead with credibility both on the factory floor and in front of customers.
Essential Requirements:
- Significant experience in a senior technical/QA leadership role within food manufacturing (ideally fresh produce or chilled foods).
- Proven track record of managing BRC and major UK retailer audits.
- Deep understanding of HACCP, TACCP/VACCP, allergen management, and GMP.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people development skills.
- A hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
