We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of Technical to lead the end-to-end technical function across a fast-paced business. This role will be responsible for ensuring product quality, safety, compliance, and innovation across an extensive range of own-label and branded products.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute the technical strategy aligned with business goals and growth plans
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing technical team
- Act as the senior technical authority across the organisation
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all products meet UK, EU, and international regulatory requirements
- Oversee product safety, quality assurance, and risk management frameworks
- Maintain robust quality management systems and audit processes
- Approve and manage suppliers, ensuring adherence to technical and ethical standards
- Drive continuous improvement in supplier performance and product quality
- Oversee product specifications, testing, and validation processes
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Commercial, NPD, and Supply Chain teams to deliver innovation
- Support speed-to-market while maintaining compliance and quality
- Influence senior stakeholders on technical risk and opportunity
- Lead responses to product recalls, quality incidents, or regulatory challenges
- Implement proactive risk mitigation strategies
Candidate
- Extensive experience in a senior technical or quality leadership role
- Proven leadership experience managing and scaling technical teams
