A growing UK food business is seeking a Technical Manager to support the delivery of industry-leading standards across food safety, quality, compliance and supplier management. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong food professional to join a fast-paced and innovative organisation, working cross-functionally with internal teams, manufacturing partners and suppliers to ensure products consistently meet customer and regulatory expectations. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and improving technical systems, managing supplier performance and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the Food Safety and Quality Management Systems.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety, legal and customer requirements.
- Lead supplier approval, monitoring and performance management programmes.
- Conduct supplier audits and technical reviews.
- Manage product specifications, technical documentation and due diligence systems.
- Support new product development projects from a technical and compliance perspective.
- Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances and root cause analyses.
- Monitor emerging legislation and ensure business compliance.
- Work closely with manufacturing partners and suppliers to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead risk assessments, vulnerability assessments and product compliance activities.
- Support internal audits and external certification programmes.
- Provide technical guidance and training to internal stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
- Experience within food manufacturing, food service, retail, ingredients or branded food businesses.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety legislation and quality management systems.
- Experience managing supplier approval and audit programmes.
- Understanding of BRCGS standards and food industry compliance requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and build relationships across multiple business functions.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to technical challenges.
