Would you like to work with one of the most successful wholesale manufacturers in the UK? We are seeking an experienced and driven Production Manager to oversee all operational activities at a production facility in Manchester. This role is key to ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective production of high-quality bakery products.
The role has a wide ranging remit with responsibilities which include:
- Managing all aspects of labour resources and materials to ensure that production targets are met within and KPI’s are attained.
- Accountability for the financial management of the production area e.g. variances, stocks, bills of materials to an agreed standard and utilisation lean manufacturing techniques.
- Responsibility for the quality of products, ensuring they are produced to the correct quality standards including managing taste panels, quality reviews and dealing with customer complaints and returns.
- Managing customers (internal and external) requirements and expectations to ensure they receive a quality service and a high standard of care, meeting agreed levels of accuracy.
- Responsibility for new product launches, ensuring successful product trials, launches and costs are managed.
- Delivering leadership and support to the Section Managers, Operatives and the Management team, by managing training and facilitating staff performance and development, and ensuring the department structure and skills are developed to meet changing job requirements.
- Actioning absence, disciplinary and grievance processes and investigations ensuring the required standard for compliance with the Company policies and procedures.
- Actively promoting a safety culture and proactively manage the Health, Safety and Welfare of staff ensuring compliance with the Company policy and relevant legislation.
- Maintaining GMP/Hygiene standards to meet operational requirements.
- Effectively communicate with staff, colleagues and senior managers on matters regarding production, quality, service, Health and Safety and people issues as necessary maintaining good employee relations.
The job holder must be able to demonstrate:
- Several years experience working as a manager in a labour intensive production environment, ideally in food and bakery.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, aligned to an enthusiastic and tenacious nature.
- The ability to manage expectations in a calm and professional manner.
- Good organisational & time management skills and delivery of cost and performance targets.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, CI, and an understanding of OEE, downtime variances, and other KPI’s.
- A customer focused approach and the ability to communicate & influence across a variety all levels, both internally & externally.
