We are seeking an experienced and driven Health, Safety & Environment Manager to oversee Health and Safety at a large food processing facility in Gravesend, ensuring that the business is fully compliant with all Health and Safety standards. This role is key to ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective production of high-quality ingredient products, and the cultural unity of the people on site from a Health and Safety perspective.
The successful Health, Safety & Environment Manager will:
- Manage internal teams and external providers to ensure the PrepWorld site and associated systems, processes and practices are maintained at all times to a high standard.
- Lead from the front in developing a health and safety culture that all colleagues are positively engaged.
- Maintain RA & PUWER assessment delivery and reviews with the relevant departmental stakeholders and highlight all gaps in a timely manner to achieve compliance.
- Ensure that the physical security of the site and workers on site is always maintained.
- Organise, or provide suitable training and instruction to all levels of the business with regard to H&S essentials.
- Challenge existing practices and procedures in a positive and constructive manner to be clear on understanding and to ensure the appropriate changes are made.
The successful Health, Safety & Environment Manager will have:
- Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to build professional working relationships both within the organisation and with external agencies/suppliers/contractors.
- Strong knowledge of Environmental and Health and Safety regulatory and legal framework and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- National Examining Body of Safety Health (NEBOSH) recognised qualification (or equivalent).
- ISO 45001 experience & lead auditor qualification (BRC or ISO).
- Working knowledge of BRC, ISO45001, SMETA/SEDEX and COP.
- Food/Drink Manufacturing experience essential.
