Location: Kent / Essex border
Salary: £40K-£45K - 4 day week Monday – Thursday 37 hours, plus pension, life insurance, many other benefits.
Our client is looking for a Skilled Aerospace Quality Engineer. The successful candidate must have experience in aerospace quality engineering and inspection, solid measurement skills, and calibration knowledge. You would be responsible for the QMS on site and customer contact, 8Ds, specs, calibration/gauges, and the QMS systems. Confidence in QMS and AS9100 standards is required. Experience of FAIRs is useful.
Quality Engineer Duties:
- Maintain quality control within the manufacturing process, in line with business standards and customer requirements.
- Assist in FAIR / LAIR compilation and approving.
- Responsible for the approval status of the associated test equipment and activities.
- Responsible for product release.
- Assist in technical reviews as required and liaise with the team.
- Contribute to the quality system maintenance in accordance with the requirement of ISO 9001:2008 / AS 9100, subject to regular audits and reviews.
- Participate in meetings with the Manufacturing Team.
- Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout manufacturing, showcasing continuous improvement and 5S mindset.
- Ensure the correct use of calibrated measurement systems for inspection of product and carry out gauge R&Rs as directed by QMS.
- Monitor and report on subcontract performance as directed.
- Monitor scrap and rework in line with quality plans and report.
Quality Engineer Requirements:
- Experienced in the aerospace sector.
- Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiar with auditing procedures and recent First Article Experience.
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of Quality and/or Aerospace Standards (ISO 9000, AS9100, EASA Part 21, EASA Part 145).
- Problem-solving skills within an engineering environment - preferably 8D.
- Continuous improvement and 5S mindset.
- Effective communicator at all levels, both verbal and written.
- Strong initiative and time management skills, able to balance priorities confidently with minimum supervision.
- Attention to detail, including numeracy.
- Work with colleagues to ensure the implementation of the company’s policies and goals.
