Salary: £18 to £20 per hour / £36,000 to £42,000 per year basic plus overtime paid at time and half

Our client is a subcontract CNC machining company primarily supplying components to the aerospace sector. Due to expansion, they are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Inspector. You should be a high calibre performance-driven Aerospace Inspector with preferred experience in the sub-contract machining market, particularly in the aerospace sector, and have knowledge of BS EN 9100 Rev D and ISO 9000.

You will be expected to ensure that the company’s procedures and documentation are adhered to in order to meet our clients’ customers’ requirements. This role can be days, 39 hours a week Monday – Thursday 07.30 – 16.30 (30 mins break) and Friday 07.30 – 12.30 (no break). Overtime after 39 hours is paid at 1.5 x rate, with 25 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays and pension. Alternatively, a night shift could be available: Monday – Thursday 17.00 – 05:00 (30 mins break) plus shift allowance.

Key functions of the Mechanical Inspector role will be to carry out 1st off CMM inspection activities and final inspection of predominantly aerospace machined components. Producing final CMM Reports in readiness for First Article Inspection is another key aspect of this demanding role. You may at times be required to complete First Article Inspection Reports using Visual FAIR Software, so an understanding of this software package and AS9102 would be advantageous.

Your goals will be to ensure that the Company is complying with all the relevant standards that govern its activities and ensuring that customer requirements are achieved.

Mechanical Inspector (CMM) experience required:

  • Experience in a similar role is desirable.
  • Educated to HNC or experience in lieu.
  • Extensive knowledge of CMM Programming/running using PC-DMIS Software is critical for this role.
  • Extensive knowledge of conventional metrology methods including the use of Micrometers, Vernier Callipers, plug gauges, etc. is also a critical requirement for this role.
  • Extensive knowledge of sub-contract machining.
  • Knowledge of aerospace machining quality standards and treatment processes.
  • Able to work to a high degree of complexity and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritise.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Ability to compile FAIRs.
