The Role: Our client is a successful technical consultancy, due to expansion they are now seeking senior and principal level Operational Analysis Consultants. Your role will be crucial in delivering informed, client-focused decision support across a diverse range of industries, including the UK MOD. They are looking for candidates who thrive in complex project environments where you’ll participate in projects that demand a keen ability to assess, analyse, and meet client-specific needs using thorough analytical approaches, thereby fostering internal growth and enhancing our client relations.
Expertise Required Operational Analysis Consultants – Defence:
- Senior Consultants: We’re looking for individuals with a proven track record in delivering analysis programs and pioneering innovative approaches. A demonstrated expertise in handling intricate analysis projects and applying creative solutions is crucial. Candidates should exhibit a deeper understanding and more extensive application of the essential attributes, with an emphasis on innovation and growth.
- Principal Consultants: A substantial background in leading analysis efforts, guiding teams, introducing innovative strategies, and/or contributing significantly to business development is required. Candidates should demonstrate a mastery of the essential attributes, with significant experience in operational analysis, analytical method development, stakeholder relationship management, effective communication and presentation, and technical report generation. Your role will not only apply these skills but also mentor others in developing them.
Essential Attributes for the role of Senior/Principal Operational Analyst Consultant:
- Operational Analysis to support business decision making, policy development, and/or research, including both ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ techniques (problem structuring and modelling).
- Skilled in the development and application of analytical methods and models.
- Experienced in fostering robust customer and stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to work in complex, dynamic situations requiring both team and independent working and creativity.
- Competent in the composition and presentation of technical reports.
- Experience working with Defence Digital, DE&S, Dstl, Frontline Commands or UK Defence industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience in one or more of the following technical disciplines or similar techniques: Process and conceptual mapping (e.g. influence diagrams), Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA), Benefits analysis, Wargaming Simulation (System Dynamics or Discrete Event Simulation), Designing and facilitating workshops (including Military Judgement Panels), Historical Analysis, Knowledge of statistics, data manipulation and analysis languages (VBA, SQL, R, Python), Cost Effectiveness Analysis (CEA) and Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA), Portfolio, programme, and project management (including schedule and risk analysis).
Desirable Attributes:
- An understanding of UK Government guidance and requirements relating to the delivery of analysis and Business Cases (AQUA and GREEN Books).
- Be a member of an appropriate professional body (e.g., Operational Research Society, APM, IMA) and have a desire for further professional development.
- The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience.
Other Requirements:
- Candidates with current UK SC or DV clearances are preferred.
- Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK.
- Candidates must be able to travel to customer sites and be comfortable working away from home or office for limited periods of time.
