Job Description
As an HGV Technician, you\’ll play a vital role in keeping our fleet safe, compliant, and road‑ready. Working in a well‑run, professional workshop, you\’ll carry out diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs to a high standard, using modern equipment and working in line with DVSA and manufacturer guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosing and fault‑finding on vehicles and trailers using the latest diagnostic tools.
- Maintaining vehicles and trailers in accordance with DVSA and manufacturer standards.
- Completing all legal and compliance documentation accurately and on time.
- Applying best practice when carrying out repairs, component replacement, and job/signing.
- Carrying out PMIs to DVSA standards.
- Working collaboratively as part of a professional workshop team to meet operational targets.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and well‑organised working environment.
- Adhering to all relevant Health & Safety and industry legislation at all times.
- Participating in ongoing development, including OEM training designed to upskill technicians and keep technical knowledge up to date.
Requirements
- Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent, or demonstrable experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar vehicle maintenance role.
- Diagnostic qualifications and experience are desirable.
- A valid Class 1 licence is desirable; training and support can be provided to obtain this if required.
- Competent in the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

- Competitive Salary: £45,945 per annum, based on working 42.5 hours per week, working a two week rotation pattern.
- Shift Hours:
- Wk1 – Mon‑Fri 06:00hrs to 15:00hrs
- Wk2 – Mon‑Fri 14:00hrs to 22:00hrs
- Saturday working rota – 07:00hrs to 12:00hrs
- Overtime: Overtime paid at hourly rate x 1.5= £31.19ph. PLUS:
- You will receive £10.00 per shift, when on standby rota basis.
- For each call out you will receive £20.00 call out charge.
- Any hours worked on call out, you will receive £31.19ph.
- Referral Scheme: Refer someone for an HGV Technician role and you\’ll both receive £1,000, paid in two instalments. *T&C\’s apply.
