Job Description

We are currently seeking a Transport Operator to join our team at our Aberdeen, Dyce site. This position involves planning and scheduling within the General Fleet operation and ensuring that the customers' requirements are met. You will work closely with the Transport Manager and other team members coordinating the day to day running at this busy site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Transport Manager to manage and motivate the transport team to ensure that staff and assets are used effectively to attain maximum performance in terms of commercial contract efficiency, profit, and client service levels.
  • Ensure deliveries and collections are completed as per customer requirements whilst also monitoring KPI for delivery on time, shift revenue and vehicle utilisation.
  • Managing and de-briefing drivers on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Managing drivers' holidays and expenses via People System.
  • Ensure vehicle checks and defects are completed and recorded via Vehicle Check App.
  • Ensure units/trailers are presented for inspection as per published schedule.
  • Communicating collection times and delivery bookings with customers.
  • Work with the Fleet Team to ensure defects are rectified in a timely manner.
  • Meet daily revenue targets per shift and per vehicle.
  • Meet on a regular basis with Line Managers to ensure that we are operating efficiently.
  • Identifying and developing additional areas where we can add value to existing contracts.
  • Ensure that all contracted work is covered in line with customer expectations.
  • Adherence to policies and procedures within the Business Area.

Requirements

  • Previous experience of working within a similar role in the logistics industry.
  • Previous experience of using Manpack TMS system is advantageous.
  • Have a good understanding of legal compliance, driver's hours and WTD's.
  • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organisational skills and prioritising workload.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Working to deadlines.
  • Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • MS packages to include, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
