We are currently seeking a Transport Planner in our Bathgate depot. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspects of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day to day running of this busy contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee transport operations, including nationwide deliveries and collections.
- Plan and allocate loads effectively using a fleet of articulated vehicles.
- Ensure timely and accurate deliveries and collections in line with customer requirements, while monitoring KPIs such as on-time performance, shift revenue, and vehicle utilisation.
- Manage and conduct driver briefings and debriefings on a daily and weekly basis.
- Collaborate with the warehouse team and on-site shunter to guarantee trailer and vehicle availability.
- Verify and record vehicle checks and defect reports via the Vehicle Check App.
- Communicate collection schedules and delivery bookings with internal teams and external customers.
- Hold regular meetings with Line Managers to review operational efficiency.
- Identify and develop opportunities to add value within the contract.
- Ensure all contracted work is scheduled through internal systems and aligns with customer expectations.
- Achieve daily revenue KPI targets and provide weekly performance reports to the Transport Manager.
- Maintain and update TMS systems for all contracted deliveries.
- Perform general administrative tasks, including filing, photocopying, and data entry.
- Comply with all business area policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Experience of planning in the logistics industry is essential.
- Knowledge of legal compliance including driver's hours and Working Time Directive regulations.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
