Night Shift Transport Operator
Location: Bathgate
Pollock Scotrans Ltd is a logistics and transport company dedicated to high standards of compliance and operational efficiency.
We are seeking a Transport Operator to work within our Bathgate depot, responsible for all aspects of transport administration and coordination of daily operations on a busy contract.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with customers and drivers to ensure smooth operation.
- Coordinate daily service reports and other administrative duties.
- Handle all queries via email, phone, and face‑to‑face.
- Use internal and external IT systems, input orders and data into our Traffic Management System.
- Maintain effective verbal and written communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support a fast‑paced environment, receiving training and guidance as needed.
- Ensure deliveries and collections meet customer requirements and monitor KPIs for on‑time delivery, shift revenue, and vehicle utilisation.
- Manage and brief drivers on a daily and weekly basis.
- Ensure vehicle checks and defects are recorded via the Vehicle Check App.
- Prepare units and trailers for inspection as per published schedule.
- Communicate collection times and delivery bookings with customers.
- Collaborate with the Fleet Team to address defects promptly.
- Meet regularly with Line Managers to optimise efficiency.
- Identify and develop additional value‑added opportunities within existing contracts.
- Ensure all contracted work aligns with customer expectations and company policies.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar Logistics role.
- Good understanding of legal compliance, driver hours and WTDs.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Solution‑driven and flexible approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
