Job Description: Are you passionate about transport and looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic logistics company? We are currently seeking a Transport Supervisor to join our team at the Coalville site. In this role, you will ensure that transport and driver compliance processes are followed and implemented correctly. You will oversee the day to day planning operation. You will work closely with the Transport Manager and other team members to maintain operational compliance and safety standards. You will communicate and liaise with the shared user network to provide the logistical solution for a variety of customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive transport strategy aligning with company objectives, focusing on cost efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
- Supervise a team of over 40 staff, including Drivers and Office Staff.
- Support coordination and management of all transportation activities, ensuring timely deliveries and effective route planning.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, transportation laws, and environmental standards, ensuring compliance within operations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service quality through continuous analysis of transportation expenses and implementation of efficient practices.
- Assist in establishing KPIs for the transportation department, tracking metrics, and reporting performance to senior management.
- Contribute to implementing risk management strategies to address transportation challenges and develop contingency plans.
- Evaluate and recommend transportation management systems and relevant technologies to enhance processes and efficiency.
- Support the introduction and oversight of sustainable transportation practices to minimize the environmental impact.
- Assist in leading and motivating the transportation team, providing guidance, coaching, and fostering a positive work environment to achieve departmental goals.
- Attend customer reviews and produce required statistics for meetings.
- Conduct regular 1-2-1 meetings with direct reports.
- Assist in conducting annual PDR interviews with direct reports.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in transport operations and compliance.
- Transport Manager CPC desirable but not essential.
- Flexibility to work at other operational depots.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strategic focus and continuous improvement experience.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple customers and priorities.
- Solution-driven and flexible approach to work.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
