Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Transport Operator to join our team. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspects of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day-to-day running of this busy contract.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the management team to motivate and guide drivers, ensuring optimal use of staff and resources to achieve high performance across contract efficiency, profitability, and client satisfaction. Take ownership of the day-to-day milk logistics, including timely route dispatch, real-time monitoring of operations, and thorough driver debriefs. Manage the Transport Management System (TMS), APEX and associated milk app processes to ensure seamless operational flow. Ensure all GDL and customer documentation is completed accurately and submitted within required timeframes. Maintain strong, professional relationships with drivers, customers, and farmers, resolving issues amicably and through appropriate channels. Work closely with customers to support operational needs and maintain service excellence. Provide regular updates to the management team on customer-related matters and operational insights, including actionable recommendations. Monitor and audit health and safety practices to ensure compliance with company standards. Respond promptly and professionally to queries via email, phone, and face-to-face interactions. Assist in the production of KPIs and daily performance statistics to support continuous improvement. Contribute to compliance planning and execution in line with company procedures. Provide direct assistance during vehicle breakdowns and other operational disruptions. Monitor the CMS system and ensure timely feedback and follow-up actions with drivers. Conduct gate checks to support operational integrity and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience of working within the milk collection environment is desirable.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
  • Excellent organisational skills and prioritising workload.
  • Attention to detail is critical and working to deadlines daily.
  • Able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Computer literate.
  • MS packages to include Word, Excel, and Outlook.
