Hours: Monday to Friday - Nights
We are looking for an enthusiastic Night Supervisor to join our team in the Pallet Network in Shepton Mallet. You will be responsible for leading the coordination of the pallet network depot, ensuring health and safety is at the forefront for all staff and a smooth running of the operation.
Responsibilities
- You will lead the coordination of the Pallet Network night operations, providing direction and communications with the Network team including the planner, drivers and yard team to ensure a smooth, efficient and proactive delivery performance.
- Monitor and review route planning for all vehicles, to ensure that all vehicles and drivers under your supervision are routed effectively to always maximise their utilisation, maintaining service levels to customer and GDL requirements, whilst keeping control over associated costs.
- Organising holiday cover for the planner and covering if and when required.
- Review and record relevant KPI's.
- Ensure Health, Safety and Compliance across the shift.
- Deal with vehicle breakdowns ensuring minimum downtime.
- Ensure our people are our top priority, with health and safety at the forefront of all activities.
- Provide leadership and supervision of day-to-day Pallet Network, including toolbox talks, driver debriefs and team briefings.
- Work collaboratively with the wider pallet network team to provide excellent service performance for our customers and the pallet networks.
- To ensure that vehicles, drivers, trailers and MHE are operating in adherence to all statutory obligations regarding Law and Health & Safety, ensuring 100% compliance is maintained.
- To ensure that GDL and customers' paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- To ensure all pallet network systems and service obligations are met daily.
- Be responsible for undertaking investigations and disciplinaries if required.
- To monitor and react to any skills gaps that might occur within the team.
- Maintain good working relationships with, and between, drivers and customers to ensure that any problems arising are handled amicably and through correct channels.
- Ensure trunks depart on time and hubs are liaised with in terms of issues/etas.
- Handover with the next shift with all relevant information.
Required Experience
- Experience with transport compliance.
- Previous administration experience working within the Transport and Logistics industry.
- Experience with health and safety.
- Excellent organisational skills and prioritising workload.
- Attention to detail is critical and working to deadlines daily.
- Able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
- MS packages to include, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
