Job Description
As an integral part of our transport team, you will contribute directly to operational success while helping us deliver exceptional service. Each day will bring a mix of collaboration, variety, and meaningful opportunities to make a positive impact across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Operations Manager in leading, motivating, and developing the transport team to maximise operational efficiency, profitability, and customer service performance.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of transport activities, ensuring resources are effectively managed during both peak and off-peak periods.
- Oversee day-to-day transport operations, including driver and vehicle dispatch, debriefs, and monitoring work in progress.
- Work closely with key customers to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the operation and maintain excellent service levels.
- Manage and conduct driver briefings and debriefings, providing guidance and support where required.
- Produce regular operational reports for the Operations Manager, highlighting performance, issues, and recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor and promote compliance with Health & Safety standards, carrying out audits and addressing any concerns.
- Respond promptly and professionally to queries received via email, telephone, and face-to-face communication.
- Assist in the production of KPIs, daily operational statistics, and Proof of Delivery (POD) reporting.
- Support the Transport Manager with compliance planning and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Provide direct operational support in the event of vehicle breakdowns or other transport-related incidents.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Previous administration experience within the Transport and Logistics industry.
- Strong understanding of transport operations, including knowledge of the Working Time Directive and EU Drivers' Hours Regulations.
- Knowledge of the Manpack traffic system would be advantageous.
- Communicate with confidence and clarity at every level, building strong relationships across the business.
- Leverage your strong UK geographical knowledge to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.
- Showcase your organisational skills by prioritising tasks and managing a busy workload with ease.
- Demonstrate sharp attention to detail and consistently hit daily deadlines.
- Work collaboratively within a supportive team while also thriving when using your own initiative.
- Utilise your proficiency in MS Office packages: Word, Excel, and Outlook, to stay on top of reporting and communication.
