About the role

  • This is a full‑time role, but flexibility will be considered
  • We offer as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of the role
  • The base location is Greggs Balliol, Balliol Business Park, Longbenton, Newcastle Upon Tyne

What you’ll do

  • Support the QA Managers with day‑to‑day technical activities, including leading third‑party BRCGS / EHO audits and inspections in their absence
  • Support the QA Managers on the HACCP team and carry out validation work and trend analysis to support the sites HACCP plan
  • Assist with the introduction and implementation of food safety and quality procedures for day‑to‑day manufacturing operations
  • Lead management meetings and present technical information as requested by the QA Managers
  • Provide technical support for site product recall / withdrawals and lead the incident call in the absence of the QA Managers
  • Monitor and maintain product testing requirements, including analysis of results and instigation of investigations and corrective action plans
  • Support the site with the management of non‑conforming products and compliant investigations
  • Drive operational standards by completing internal audits in line with the sites internal audit schedule
  • Oversee the site QA Team to ensure effective implementation of food safety and quality management systems and prerequisites
  • Support the QA Team with their targets, objectives and development plans

About you

  • A Degree or HNC Level Education in a Food Science‑based subject
  • HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 4 qualifications
  • A good understanding of BRC Global standard requirements and experience participating in internal and third‑party audits
  • Proven experience in investigations with strong attention to detail
  • A result‑focused approach with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others
  • Experience of, and the ability to multi‑task and work with multiple priorities calmly and at pace
  • Advanced IT skills including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams
  • Supportive of an inclusive culture – recognising and valuing that difference is good
