We have a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Assurance Manager to join our Technical Team. Reporting to the Regional Technical Manager, you will hold overall responsibility for technical leadership on site, with direct responsibility for food safety and quality standards. You will be part of a small but effective QA team that is heavily involved with day‑to‑day factory floor operations for low risk and high care manufacturing, ensuring high standards are maintained and current site systems are challenged and developed. You will be expected to build strong relationships across the site and work closely with technical teams within the region. The role will involve occasional travel to other sites; therefore, flexibility and a full clean driving licence is essential.

About the role

This is a full‑time role, however flexibility in this will be considered. We know that having a work‑life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role. The base location for this role is Treforest, Cardiff, Wales.

What you’ll do

Working closely with the site teams, the role is responsible for:

  • Directing a team of Quality Assurance Technicians
  • Working with production, engineering and hygiene teams to ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality and legality are maintained
  • Steering the annual site BRCGS audit and ensuring the site works to the requirements of the BRCGS Food Standard
  • Leading the HACCP team, ensuring full implementation of the HACCP plan and prerequisites
  • Managing the site's allergen management and risk assessment process
  • Facilitating product recalls and withdrawals
  • Managing the site's document control systems
  • Providing management reports on levels of performance for KPI data
  • Assisting with the completion of internal audits and inspections
  • Managing non‑conformances and corrective/preventative actions

About you

We are looking for individuals who are driven, and can demonstrate:

  • A Degree level education in a Food Science based subject
  • Experience of high care food operations and allergen management essential
  • HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 4 qualifications
  • Practical knowledge of the BRCGS Food Standard and Quality Management Systems
  • Internal audit qualification and experience auditing against the BRCGS food standard
  • Proven experience of leadership, decision making and team management
  • A result‑focussed approach with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others
