We have an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Operations Manager to join our new state-of-the-art Kettering National Distribution Centre (KNDC).

This role will play a critical part in ensuring outstanding service to our shops and Regional Distribution Centres while supporting Greggs' continued growth, supply chain transformation, and investment in warehouse automation.

As Warehouse Operations Manager, you will lead a team of shift managers, supervisors/section lead, and operatives to deliver a safe, compliant, highly efficient, and technology-enabled operation.

You will be responsible for implementing the warehouse strategy, optimising automated and manual processes, delivering operational plans, and driving continuous improvement while maintaining the highest standards of safety, service, and colleague engagement.

About the role

  • This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered

What you'll do

  • Lead and develop a team of shift managers, supervisors/section leads, and operatives within a highly automated distribution environment.
  • Deliver operational and strategic warehouse objectives in line with business plans, budgets, and customer service requirements.
  • Take responsibility for warehouse planning, labour deployment, capacity management, and operational problem solving.
  • Ensure warehouse equipment, automation assets, and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards through effective collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Manage 24/7 warehouse operations, including rota planning, labour optimisation, and peak period resource management.
  • Drive a culture of operational excellence, innovation, continuous improvement, and colleague engagement.
  • Develop, monitor, and improve key performance indicators relating to productivity, accuracy, service, safety, and automation utilisation.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, food safety, quality, and company policies.
  • Recruit, coach, develop, and support colleagues to achieve their full potential within a modern automated environment.
  • Lead performance management, PDRs and succession planning
  • Manage investigations, disciplinary, and grievance processes where required.
  • Work cross-functionally with supply chain, engineering, automation, maintenance, and support teams to achieve operational and commercial objectives.
  • Lead and deliver continuous improvement initiatives, automation projects, and warehouse optimisation programmes.

About you

  • Experience leading large-scale warehouse, logistics, or distribution operations.
  • Strong commercial understanding with the ability to balance customer service, operational performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Experience managing automated warehouse operations, warehouse management systems (WMS), and technology-enabled distribution environments.
  • Experience leading change and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse compliance, Health & Safety, food safety, and operational best practice.
  • Proven expertise in warehouse planning, labour optimisation and inventory management, supported by strong analytical and change management skills.
  • Experience working alongside automation technologies such as ASRS systems, and conveyors
  • The ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • A coaching and development-focused leadership style.
