We have an exciting opportunity for a Mobile Fleet Technician to join our Fleet Team to provide support to our Distribution Centres in Amesbury, Enfield and Treforest. Based out of Enfield, we require a weekly coverage of the 3 southern depots.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, motivated, experienced and qualified Technician/Fleet Engineer who will work as part of the fleet team and be integral in ensuring that our vehicles are kept in a roadworthy condition. This role is field-based covering our depot network with an emphasis on auditing/inspecting the quality of work being carried out by our third-party maintenance providers on company-owned HGVs and Trailers on site. Covering minor defects and identifying potential problems is paramount to this role, as well as identifying solutions and technology improvements to existing vehicles. Ensuring overall compliance of the company’s obligations under the Operator Licence regulations is a vital component in everything relating to this role.

About the role:

This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered. We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role. The base location for this role is Enfield. The 5-day planned work schedule for this role would be - 2/3 days at Enfield and 1 day at Amesbury and Treforest per week. Overnight accommodation and subsistence would be covered by the business, where required.

What you'll do:

  • Complete quality inspections on vehicles returning from PMI and MOT inspections.
  • Complete OCRS audit inspection on every fleet vehicle within your depots over a 12 month period.
  • Carry out minor defect repairs and mechanical repairs on site at our depots.
  • Assisting depots with comprehensive driver vehicle check training.
  • Keep up to date with new technologies, product knowledge, legislation and working procedures within the vehicle repair industry.
  • Work as part of a small team of 4 engineers to provide a top-class service to the depot management.
  • Have a working knowledge of tail lifts, fridges and other ancillary equipment is desired but not essential.

About you:

You will fit right into this role if:

  • You’re experienced working in the commercial vehicle industry, with a recognised qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • You’re able to demonstrate your specialist knowledge and experience with MOT preparations and servicing of Mercedes and Scania 18 tonne rigid, 44 tonne tractor units and trailers of various configurations.
  • You will be comfortable liaising with third party repairers who are used to support the fleet operation locally to the area.
  • You have good planning and organisation skills.
  • You’re comfortable communicating both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • You have a good understanding of the UK and EU legislation relevant to the road transport industry.
  • Preferably hold a C+E licence entitlement, which could be obtained through Greggs if required.
