We are seeking an experienced and driven Company Accountant to join our well-established and successful multi-franchise dealership in Victoria Bridge, Northern Ireland. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounts function while managing HR operations to support a high-performing dealership environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director and Department Managers, providing meaningful financial insight, robust reporting, and operational support to help drive business performance and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the accounts department ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial data
- Prepare and deliver accurate monthly management accounts within agreed deadlines
- Submit monthly manufacturer composite reports in line with franchise standards
- Provide financial guidance and support to departmental managers
- Manage and control all financial aspects of the business
- Develop budgets and financial strategy
- Calculate and administer manufacturer bonus schemes
- Ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations and statutory reporting requirements
- Manage and maintain the fixed asset register
- Maintain accurate sales, purchase, and vehicle ledgers
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
- Maintain and administer the DMS system
- Prepare year-end balance sheet schedules and liaise with external accountants
- Manage payroll and pension administration
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and HR policies
- Act as a first point of contact for HR-related queries
- Safeguard confidential personnel files in accordance with data protection standards
Key Skills & Experience
- Fully Qualified Accountant
- Minimum of 3 years PQE
- Previous experience in a senior accounts role preferably within the motor trade
- Strong knowledge of vehicle stocking plans and manufacturer bonus structures
- Strong IT and accounting software knowledge (experience with Navigator, Pinewood, or similar DMS preferred)
- Advanced Excel Skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a Management Team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Strong understanding of VAT and payroll processes
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills
Whats on offer?
- £40,000 - £50,000 basic salary, dependent on experience
- Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
- Flexible working options including 35 hour option
