Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management: Guide and mentor the Operational colleagues in the completion of all hygiene practices. Develop and implement systems to drive continuous improvement and hygiene excellence. Ambassador for food safety and quality culture in the factories. Foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, and accountability across the hygiene, quality, technical, operational and support function teams.
  • Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all hygiene practices meet or exceed industry/customer quality standards, including HACCP, GMP, and BRCGS & ISO certifications. Monitor and ensure compliance with hygiene regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. Collaborate with the technical and operational team to establish and enforce protocols and KPIs for verifying effective hygiene.
  • Process Optimization & Innovation: Oversee the development, implementation, and optimization of hygiene systems. Work closely with Operations to incorporate new technologies, production techniques, and process improvements that strengthen hygiene across both sites.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Closely collaborate with other departments such as Production, Supply Chain, Procurement to ensure hygiene systems align with company goals. Ensure that hygiene drivers are front and centre to cross functional projects.
  • Cost Management: Control aspects of the hygiene budget, ensuring cost‑effective implementation of hygiene solutions and process improvements. Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs without compromising product quality and food safety.
  • Sustainability & Environmental Impact: Support efforts to minimize the environmental impact of manufacturing operations by promoting sustainable practices. Support energy‑efficient technologies and resource‑saving initiatives to reduce waste and energy consumption in line with corporate sustainability goals.
  • Training & Development: Oversee the training and development of ops/hygiene staff to ensure they have the necessary skills to excel in their roles. Encourage knowledge‑sharing across the team and maintain a continuous learning culture.

Personal Competencies

  • Minimum of 4 years experience within a Hygiene Management/Supervisory role within food manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Proven track record of managing a large‑scale production operation with a focus on hygiene improvements.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance and retailer codes of practice.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop hygiene teams.
  • In depth knowledge of food manufacturing technologies.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and a strong understanding of food hygiene and environmental regulations.
  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal, to collaborate with senior management, technical and operational teams and all other cross‑functional departments.
  • Highly organised, detail orientated and capable of handling projects simultaneously.
  • Willing to work 'hands‑on' within the operational hygiene windows.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long‑term objectives with short‑term operational needs.
  • Ability to adapt to change and thrive in fast‑paced dynamic environment.

Travel Requirements
