Pay: £39.14 per hour, 3-4 hours on site plus additional planning allowance. Principal leads receive an additional day fee for initial planning and development ahead of launch.

Location: Tramshed, South-East London’s home of participation, central Woolwich.

Job Overview

We are building new vocal and instrumental ensembles for children and young people aged 8 to 15, expanding our existing programme. Leaders will help realise our vision of more children making music several times a week, sparking passion and providing pathways to independent music‑making.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead engaging, well‑structured rehearsals for ensembles at different levels.
  • Prepare programmes, conduct rehearsals, and facilitate performance opportunities throughout the year.
  • Provide constructive feedback, set expectations, and support consistent progress.
  • Maintain high standards of preparation, rehearsal quality, and inclusive practice.
  • Collaborate with the team to design creative development pathways for each group.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in leading vocal or instrumental ensembles for children and youth.
  • Strong knowledge of music education practices and ability to nurture musical development.
  • Self‑employed status with flexibility to agree on additional holiday teaching.
  • DBS Enhanced check and proof of public liability insurance required before work is offered.
