The predicted salary is between 37000 - 44000 £ per year.

This is the perfect opportunity to be part of a diverse team providing assessment, diagnostics, diagnosis, treatment, advice, and referrals. As a UTC ECP you will be considered a key person in day‑to‑day clinical leadership and expertise within the department. You will be working autonomously within your sphere of competency as a clinician in a diverse, multi‑skilled team that includes GPs, Advanced Practitioners, Physician Associates, Paediatric ANPs, Emergency Practitioners and Live Well Coaches. On each shift, you will provide expert advice and second opinions for patients seen and treated by junior members of staff. We are looking for full and part‑time practitioners on a permanent salaried basis. The service is 365 days per year, 7 days a week. This shift will be a night shift.

Main duties of the job

  • Take responsibility for the patients assigned through the streaming process.
  • Perform assessment of patients’ needs, plan, implement and evaluate clinical treatment and care using advanced clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Assess diagnostics including ECGs, bloods, urinalysis and X‑rays.
  • Discuss with patients and carers the range of possible treatment/management options and their implications before treatment decisions are made.
  • Instigate and implement clinical management and treatment changes when appropriate.
  • Contribute to specific care guidelines and standards supporting the care of patients across the health economy.
  • Implement Health and Safety and Risk Management appropriate to area of work.
  • Deliver aspects of the Clinical Governance Agenda, following the direction of the Clinical Leadership.
  • Contribute to and manage various elements of auditing in the UTC.
  • Have overall responsibility for other members of the clinical team within the UTC.

Job responsibilities

You will be working autonomously within your sphere of competency as a clinician in a diverse, multi‑skilled team that includes GPs, Advanced Practitioners, Physician Associates, Paediatric ANPs, Emergency Practitioners and Live Well Coaches. With links to both VTS and Greenwich University, you will have access to a range of CPD courses. We work closely with the IC, ICB, Local Trust and various other local shareholders to provide opportunities to learn, innovate and contribute new ideas. Communication and Relationship Skills

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills when working with the internal team as well as external, particularly our practices and the hospital trust.
  • Be able to identify and take into consideration barriers to understanding and employ appropriate methods to ensure effective communication particularly where barriers are clinical in nature.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and carers.
  • Be aware of the procedures to follow if concerned regarding the protection of children.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others.
  • Hold good relationship building skills to develop strong relationships with key individuals within practices and the local healthcare system.

  • Perform specialist assessment of patients’ needs, diagnose where appropriate, plan, implement and evaluate clinical treatment and care using advanced clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Be able to discuss with patients and carers the range of possible treatment/management options and their implications before treatment decisions are made.
  • Be responsible for monitoring health, safety and security of self, the team and others and promote best practice in the clinical area.
  • Identify clinical issues and incidents within the service that reduce the quality of care within the specialist service bringing any issues to the attention of the management team.
  • Take part in activities to counter these to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care.
  • Ensure that high standards of care are given and maintained and act when standards are not being met.

Planning and Organisational Skills

  • Plan, organise and prioritise own daily workload.
  • Recognise, prevent, and diffuse potential areas of conflict and where required take a key role in the management of the outcome.

Physical Skills

  • Demonstrate competence in the use of all clinical equipment used in the overall care of patients within the scope of service.

  • Ability to travel to all sites of service delivery in a timely manner.
  • Perform assessment of patients’ needs, diagnose where appropriate, plan, implement and evaluate clinical treatment and care using advanced clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Establish effective communication with patients and carers / relatives.
  • Deliver specialised, evidence‑based advice suitable for the individual’s medical, social, psychological, religious, and cultural requirements.
  • Ensure that appropriate action is taken to protect vulnerable patients and that they can access/receive the appropriate care.
  • Promote people’s equality, diversity, and rights.
  • Identify clinical issues and incidents within the service that reduce the quality of care bringing any issues to the attention of the Clinical Lead.

Person Specification

  • Qualified Emergency Care Practitioner (Minor Injuries and Minor illnesses Level 6 or above)
  • Minimum 2 year experience of Primary, Urgent or Emergency Care within the last 5 years.
  • Knowledge of clinical systems (EMIS/Cerner/Adastra/CLEO)
  • Good interpersonal and patient care skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
  • Ability to work under pressure and to prioritise workload
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Support and develop the implementation of change processes

Other

  • Active Professional Registration e.g. GMC or NMC
  • Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983
  • Have had an annual NHS appraisal
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check
