This is the perfect opportunity to be part of a diverse team providing assessment, diagnostics, diagnosis, treatment, advice, and referrals.

Desired hours: 20:00–08:00.

As a UTC Streaming Clinician, you will be a key person in day‐to‐day clinical leadership and expertise within the department. You will work as part of a team within your sphere of competency, alongside GPs, Advanced Practitioners, Physician Associates, Paediatric ANPs, Emergency Practitioners and Live Well Coaches. On each shift you will act as a shift leader, coordinate the working team, stream patients from the front door and work collaboratively with a wide range of local specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the UTC patient case list.
  • Effectively delegate tasks to staff on shift, providing safe and efficient care.
  • Perform streaming safely and efficiently, assigning patients to the correct department and priority level.
  • Provide a safe ED/UTC front door for patients and staff.
  • Perform diagnostics including ECGs, bloods, and urinalysis.
  • Provide reassurance to patients, families and carers.
  • Follow diagnostic and referral pathways.
  • Communicate effectively with inter‐professional teams for patient referrals.
  • Contribute to specific care guidelines and standards supporting the care of patients across the health economy.
  • Implement Health and Safety and Risk Management appropriate to area of work.
  • Deliver aspects of the Clinical Governance Agenda, following the direction of the Clinical Leadership.
  • Contribute to and manage various elements of auditing in the UTC.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in Nursing, Paramedic or equivalent.
  • Triage/Clinical Assessment qualification.

Knowledge, Training & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years post‐qualification experience.
  • In‐depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence‐based healthcare.
  • Recent post‐registration experience in clinical assessment.
  • Background in ED, Urgent Care or Emergency Care.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex and sensitive information in an understandable form to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Demonstrated accountability for delivering professional expertise and direct service provision.

Professional Registration

Mandatory registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council, HCPC or other relevant professional body.
