A long-standing successful manufacturing enterprise based in the heart of the Black Country has revisited their finance department structure in light of increased costs associated with National Insurance. They have highlighted cost savings from engaging an interim part-time controller whilst also improving the provision in terms of quality, relevance, and timeliness of financial information.

Success has been defined to include the following:

  • Take a hands-on role mentoring a talented member of the finance team to improve and expand their knowledge and the outputs they can deliver.
  • Review existing processes and controls with a view to streamlining them to reduce the hours needed to complete tasks by the finance team.
  • Review the existing monthly reporting pack and dashboard with a view to agreeing with the owner/MD the information they want and need.
  • Utilise modern software to automate the collation and processing of data to produce reports.
  • Oversee the provision of monthly accounts and all related information for internal and external stakeholders.

At present, it is envisaged all the above can be achieved working approximately 3 days over the next 12 months.
