Finance & Operations Assistant - 25-30Kpa - Based in Birmingham

Greenwell Gleeson are recruiting a Finance Assistant to join a well established business based in Edgbaston. Our client is looking for candidates with a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role with the potential to grow within the role and support the Finance Manager with month end duties.
Responsibilities include:
- Take ownership for the day to day management and maintenance of the reporting systems, including data entry and interrogation and the preparation of regular and ad hoc reports as requested by the Finance Manager.
- Maintain all aspects of the Purchase Ledger, including recording and filing invoices, checking audit trails, processing credit notes, chasing payments and dealing with queries.
- Maintain the Sales Ledger including charging (client invoices), matching and despatching invoices and statements and processing any payments - taking cheques to the bank and posting all cash receipts onto client accounts.
- Credit control activities to achieve the target of 30 days payment, including chasing payment via telephone and liaising with account handlers to resolve late payments speedily and efficiently.
- Run monthly aged debtors and creditors' reports and reconcile to balance on the nominal ledger.
- Maintain relevant books and ledgers including: the cash book, foreign currency, sales ledger, purchase ledger, petty cash & nominal ledger.
- Control postage records and balance in the franking machine (as if it were a petty cash tin).
- Take monthly printer usage readings and forward to supplier.
- Liaise with bankers on day to day issues, raising or resolving queries and progressing any on-going projects or initiatives.
- Administration of employee expenses, liaising with employees to encourage regular submission, checking all entries for accuracy and processing payments.
- Support the day to day administration of outsourced activities - e.g. fleet management, insurance policies and subscription to the AA.
- Manage petty cash, keeping accurate and signed records for each transaction and creating monthly cash balances.
