On an exclusive basis, greenwellgleeson are recruiting for a no.1 Financial Controller to join an established and growing business based in Dudley. Reporting directly into the owner/founder of the business, this role will have the opportunity to grow into Finance Director over time. This is a hands-on role, responsible for leading the finance function, maintaining strong financial control, and supporting commercial decision-making as the business scales.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Managing and developing the finance team
  • Overseeing month-end close, management accounts and balance sheet control
  • Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
  • Financial oversight of multiple sites, including multiple P&Ls
  • Commercial analysis of sales and margins
  • Making strategic recommendations to the business
  • Liaison with auditors and oversight of statutory reporting
  • Driving improvements to finance processes and systems
  • Working closely with the senior management team to improve overall profitability and growth
  • Ad hoc projects within the team and wider business

Skills & Experience:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Proven hands-on Financial Controller (or similar) experience
  • Multi-site retail experience is essential
  • Strong people management experience
  • Commercially minded with strong attention to detail
  • Ambitious and driven to succeed
