Greenvolt Next is committed to decentralized energy production, as it represents one of the key pillars of the energy transition and a crucial lever for reducing electricity bills. We have partnerships across Europe, based on local expertise and a deep understanding of each market.

The purpose of the role is to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the solar PV portfolio through performance monitoring, preventive and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis and accurate reporting. The role exists to maximise plant availability and energy production while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and regulatory compliance. The role requires regular travel to customer and project sites, including overnight stays where necessary, and occasional out-of-hours support based on operational requirements.

Key Accountabilities

Preventative and Corrective Maintenance

  • Plan and carry out scheduled preventative maintenance across C I and utility-scale solar PV systems.
  • Inspect PV modules, mounting systems, roof penetrations, inverters, AC/DC cabling, isolators, monitoring systems and associated balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults, including inverter trips, string faults, communication failures, monitoring issues, site alarms and system underperformance.
  • Repair or replace faulty equipment, including modules, DC string cabling and inverters, within the limits of competence and authorisation.
  • Carry out thermographic inspections and other electrical testing as required.
  • Identify deterioration, defects and performance issues, escalating complex matters to engineering teams, manufacturers or specialist contractors.
  • Coordinate periodic activities such as module cleaning, vegetation management and site-access requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate spare-parts records and support warranty claims with manufacturers.

Monitoring and Performance Management

  • Monitor daily plant performance through SCADA and remote monitoring platforms.
  • Analyse production data and key performance indicators, including Performance Ratio (PR), availability and system yield.
  • Investigate technical events and performance anomalies, taking or coordinating appropriate corrective action.
  • Support the collection, validation, classification and reporting of operational data across the portfolio.
  • Work with the Performance Analyst and relevant technical teams to establish the cause and correct classification of system events.

Planning and Site Delivery

  • Plan site attendance, including access arrangements, RAMS, permits, customer notifications, tools, materials, test equipment and contractor coordination.
  • Manage and prioritise workload across a UK-wide portfolio of operational sites.
  • Ensure the necessary documentation, equipment and spare parts are available before attending site.
  • Provide clear and timely updates before, during and following site attendance.

Contractor Supervision

  • Coordinate and supervise third-party contractors, including specialist electrical, module-cleaning, vegetation-management and access contractors.
  • Ensure contractors are appropriately briefed and inducted and work in accordance with approved RAMS, permits and site rules.
  • Raise Permits to Work for third-party high-risk activities, where trained and authorised to do so.
  • Monitor work quality, confirm completion against the agreed scope and report any safety concerns, defects or incomplete work.

Reporting, Compliance and Safety

  • Produce clear and timely site reports, including maintenance findings, test results, photographs, defects, spare-parts usage and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, warranty, compliance and asset-management records.
  • Provide technical information for monthly O M and customer reports, including updates on system condition, availability, faults and corrective actions.
  • Comply with company procedures, site rules, RAMS, permit requirements and applicable UK health and safety legislation.
  • Do not undertake work unless suitable safe systems of work, access arrangements and permits are in place.
  • Promptly report hazards, near misses, incidents, unsafe conditions and quality concerns.
  • Challenge unsafe behaviour and actively support continuous improvement in safety and operational performance.

Experience

  • City Guilds, NVQ Level 3 electrical qualification or equivalent recognised technical qualification.
  • Technical educational background in electrical engineering, renewable energy, solar PV, maintenance or a related discipline.
  • A degree in engineering or a related technical discipline is desirable.
  • BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations qualification is desirable.
  • Relevant training or certification in electrical inspection and testing, solar PV, thermography, working at height, IPAF, PASMA, first aid or high-voltage awareness would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of two years’ relevant technical experience within the solar energy, electrical maintenance or renewable energy sector.
  • Experience working on solar PV systems, preferably C I rooftop, ground-mounted or utility-scale installations.
  • Experience planning and carrying out preventative maintenance, inspections, fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance.
  • Practical knowledge of solar PV system components, including modules, strings, inverters, isolators, AC/DC cabling, meters, data loggers, monitoring systems and associated balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Strong analytical, fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear technical updates and reports.
  • Good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage work across multiple sites.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative while contributing effectively as part of a wider O M and engineering team.
