As a Lawn Operative, you will be responsible for delivering a high level of professional service to customers across your treatment area. With training, you will identify lawn issues and offer advice on treatments that may be required. Building relationships with customers is essential; you will talk to customers on every visit, offering expert advice on products and services.
Responsibilities
- Maintain contact with customers before a treatment to inform them when you will be attending (call ahead).
- Visit designated customers daily to apply fertiliser and herbicide.
- Inform the customer before any work commences; if the customer is unavailable, continue with the treatment.
- At the conclusion of work, notify the customer that the treatment is completed and supply the invoice detailing what work was carried out.
- Inform the customer of the next treatment date.
- Identify lawn issues and offer advice on lawn and mowing practices and any additional treatments required.
- Carry out essential Spring/Autumn machine work (aerators, scarifiers, lawn top-dressers) using professional lawn care machinery.
- Understand that aeration and scarification reduce moss, thatch and soil compaction; use appropriate tools to clear scarification waste safely and professionally.
- Work in a team or alone on machine work; physical fitness is required.
- Maintain health and safety practices as supplied by Green Thumb Limited and maintain a high level of cleanliness of the company vehicle with servicing as needed.
- Ensure a professional and smart appearance at all times.
- Carry out any necessary simple service calls as they arise.
- Carry out lawn analysis and quotations as required.
- Support business growth by speaking to potential customers and providing point-of-sale material as requested.
- Maintain and update stock reports when required.
- Build relationships with customers; talk to customers on every visit and offer expert advice on products and services.
Qualifications & Skills
- Have full UK driving licence for manual vehicles.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Passion for lawn care.
- Ability to work independently outdoors and stay active.
- Deliver top quality customer service and maintain excellent organisation and timekeeping skills.
- Right to work in the UK.
Experience (preferred)
- Experience in roles such as Maintenance Worker, Grounds Worker, Gardener, Lawn Care, Landscaping, Customer Services, or related fields is advantageous.
Location, Hours & Salary
- Starting salary: £25,604 + £2,000 OTE
- Annual salary reviews and holiday allowance increases (up to 26 days + Bank Holidays)
- Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday (with overtime opportunities)
