As a Lawn Operative, you will be responsible for delivering a high level of professional service to customers across your treatment area. With training, you will be able to identify lawn issues and offer advice on treatments that may be required. Building relationships with our customers is essential; you will talk to our customers on every visit, offering expert advice on our products and services to help us build lawns that our customers will love.
Responsibilities
- Maintain contact with customers before a treatment to inform them when you will be attending (call ahead).
- Visit designated customers daily to apply fertiliser and herbicide.
- Inform the customer before work commences when possible; if the customer is not available, continue with the treatment.
- At the conclusion of work, notify the customer that the treatment is completed and provide the invoice detailing the work carried out.
- Inform the customer of the next treatment date.
- Identify lawn issues and offer advice on lawn and mowing practices and any additional treatments that may be required.
- Carry out essential Spring/Autumn machine work such as aerators, scarifiers and lawn top-dressers using professional lawncare machinery.
- Explain that aeration and scarification reduce moss, thatch and soil compaction; use safe, professional techniques.
- Use regular garden tools (rakes, leaf sweepers, brooms) to clear scarification waste.
- Work in a team or alone on machine work, which can be physically demanding; maintain good general fitness.
- Maintain standards of health and safety practices as supplied by Green Thumb Limited.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness of the company vehicle and ensure servicing is completed.
- Maintain a professional and smart appearance at all times.
- Carry out simple service calls as required.
- Carry out lawn analysis and quotations as required.
- Support business growth by speaking to potential customers and providing point of sale material as requested.
- Maintain and update stock reports when required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Have a full UK driving licence for manual vehicles.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Passion for lawn care.
- Ability to work independently, outdoors and stay active.
- Ability to deliver top quality customer service.
- Excellent organisation and timekeeping skills.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
Experience (Nice to Have)
